You may be in need of hail repair services if you are caught in a hailstorm. Hail can cause severe damage to your car, resulting in several small dents all over. However, if you live in an area prone to frequent hailstorms, and you don't have a carport or garage, it doesn't mean that your car is doomed to be completely damaged forever. Aside from keeping close track of the storms in your area, there are some things you can do to minimize hail damage during a storm.

Find Cover Wherever Possible

If you don't have a garage or carport, then try to find cover wherever possible before the storm hits. If you are out, then pull over to a safe place as soon as possible as hail damage could be worse when you are moving.

Try to find a public parking lot with a carport or park your car under an underpass until the storm passes. Many malls and shopping areas have parking garages available, for example. Even though it might be tempting, do not park under trees as they can fall and render your car unusable.

Use a Makeshift Cover

Your best bet is to purchase a hail-resistant car cover that can protect your car against small bits of hail and other debris. However, if you are out and you don't have your cover available, then you can use blankets as a barrier. Make sure the blankets cover the entire top of the car.

In a pinch, your floor mats can offer protection with severe hail, especially for the windshield which can break and cause water and debris to enter your car.

Contact Your Insurance Company

If you have a newer car with comprehensive insurance, then hail damage may be covered under your policy, except for your deductible if you have one. Comprehensive coverage usually covers weather-related damage.

Since severe hail frequently causes several small dents all over your car, and possibly a broken windshield, chances are that the repair cost is much higher than your deductible. If the damage is costly enough, then the adjuster may opt to have your car considered totaled and give you the value of the car. It will then be up to you to decide whether to fix your car or not.

Hail can put a bunch of dents in your car, but that doesn't mean that you need to have the car repainted in order to get them fixed. Paintless dent repair is available so that you can have those dents fixed without the hassle of repainting. If you couldn't avoid a hailstorm and are in need for hail repair services, then contact a paintless dent repair service as soon as possible.
